Edie Mercado founded Coastal Fitness and Wellness in 2006. She is currently licensed in Massage Therapy by the State of Georgia. She has over twenty years experience in the health and wellness field. She successfully completed an accredited New Jersey State Board approved 564 hour training program in Anatomy and Physiology in January 1996. This program included Therapeutic and Sports Massage and Neuromuscular Therapies as well as Propioceptive |
She recently trained for Advanced Manual Therapies for painless neck, shoulder, back, and hip pain relief with the "illustrious" Zhenya K. Wine of the Kurashova Institute in Rock Island, Illinois. Zhenya has written dozens of articles for the AMTA (American Massage Therapy Association).
She has maintained certification in Personal and Group Training with the American Council on Exercise since 1990. Previously she was employed by New York Sports Clubs (1990 through 2004), catering to the physical exercise needs of children through aging adults, serving as the Program Director from 1992 through1995,. She also was employed as a Physical Education Teacher at a private school for girls in grades 9 through 12 from 1995-2004. She had the pleasure of teaching pre-schoolers the art of physical exercise in a day-care facility in New Jersey from 1991-1992.Pilates Reformer I and II- New York City - Completed January 2009
